Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Xilandi. These Terms and Conditions (the "Terms") govern the use of the Xilandi — Changana e Macua mobile app (the "App") and the website xilandi.com (the "Site"), operated by Xilandi ("we" or "our").

By creating an account or using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood and accept these Terms, as well as our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use our services.

1. The service

Xilandi is a platform for learning Mozambican languages, including Xichangana and Macua, offering structured lessons, dialogues, stories, a dictionary with audio pronunciation, quizzes and a weekly leaderboard based on experience points (XP).

We reserve the right to modify, suspend or discontinue any feature of the App, in whole or in part, at any time, while always aiming to give users reasonable notice when the changes are significant.

2. User account

  • To access most features, you must create an account with true and up-to-date information;
  • You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential and for all activity carried out on your account;
  • You must notify us immediately at suporte@xilandi.com if you suspect unauthorised use of your account;
  • If you are a minor, you must use the App with the consent and supervision of your parents or guardians.

3. Subscriptions and payments

3.1. Free and premium access

The App offers free content and premium content available through a paid subscription. Three plans are available:

  • Weekly plan: 200 MT per week;
  • Monthly plan: 500 MT per month;
  • Annual plan: 4,500 MT per year.

We do not offer free trials, discounts or promotional offers. Prices may be updated in the future; any change will be shown in the App before it takes effect on your subscription.

3.2. Payment processing

Subscriptions are purchased and processed through the Apple App Store, Google Play or, on Android, directly in the App via M-Pesa, and are subject to the terms and conditions of those platforms. Prices are shown in the App before you confirm the purchase.

3.3. Automatic renewal

Unless stated otherwise, subscriptions purchased through the App Store or Google Play renew automatically at the end of each period. You can cancel the renewal at any time in your App Store or Google Play account settings, up to 24 hours before the end of the current period. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Subscriptions paid by M-Pesa do not renew automatically without your confirmation.

3.4. Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google, in line with the refund policies of the respective stores. We cannot process refunds directly.

4. Acceptable use

When using the App, you agree not to:

  • Use the service for illegal or unauthorised purposes;
  • Copy, distribute, sell or commercially exploit the App's content without written permission;
  • Attempt to access restricted areas of our systems, bypass security measures or reverse-engineer the App;
  • Use automated means (bots, scripts) to manipulate the leaderboard, XP or any other feature;
  • Use usernames that are offensive, misleading or that infringe third-party rights;
  • Interfere with the normal operation of the service or with other users' experience.

We reserve the right to suspend or delete accounts that breach these Terms.

5. Intellectual property

All content in the App and on the Site — including lessons, dialogues, stories, audio recordings, texts, translations, design, logos and software — is the property of Xilandi or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial learning. This licence does not include any right to reproduce or distribute the content.

6. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available". While we strive to ensure the quality and accuracy of the language content, we do not guarantee that the service will be free of errors or interruptions, nor do we guarantee any specific learning outcomes.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Xilandi shall not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, the App. In any event, our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for subscriptions in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the liability.

8. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time in the App settings. We may suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (intellectual property, limitation of liability, governing law) remain in force after termination.

9. Changes to the Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be published on this page with the new date. Continued use of the App after the changes are published constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

10. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Mozambique. Any dispute arising from the use of the App shall be submitted to the competent courts of Mozambique, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer protection provisions that apply in your country of residence.
